Frequently Asked Questions
What is the current GACE Paraprofessional exam code and provider?
The current exam is GACE Paraprofessional Assessment 349. Evaluation Systems, Pearson became the GACE testing supplier on July 1, 2025. Candidates should use the current Pearson GACE site rather than treating the former ETS administration or its old test identifiers as current.
How many questions are on GACE 349, and how long is it?
Pearson lists 90 selected-response questions. The total appointment is 2 hours 15 minutes: 15 minutes for the tutorial and nondisclosure agreement plus 2 hours of testing time.
What score is required to pass GACE 349?
A scaled score of 220 or higher is required. GACE scaled scores run from 100 to 300, so 220 is not a percent-correct score and cannot be converted into a fixed number of correct answers from the public information.
What is the official GACE Paraprofessional pass rate?
GaPSC and Evaluation Systems/Pearson do not publish a current statewide pass-rate percentage for assessment 349. The published passing standard is a 220 scaled score, but that is not a pass-rate statistic.
How is the current GACE 349 framework divided?
Pearson's current framework assigns approximately one-third of the assessment score to each of three subareas: Reading Skills, Writing Skills, and Mathematics Skills. Classroom support is integrated into those competencies rather than reported as a separate fourth weighted subarea. For 50 cards, the closest whole-card allocation is 17 Reading, 17 Writing, and 16 Mathematics.
What is the GACE retake rule for Paraprofessional 349?
A candidate who retakes the assessment must register again and wait 30 days. Pearson publishes the same 30-day rule for later attempts; there is no separate longer waiting period triggered after three failures.
Is passing GACE 349 the only route to a Georgia Paraprofessional license?
No. GaPSC permits several qualification routes, including an associate's degree or higher, 60 qualifying semester hours, or passing GACE 349 while holding a high school diploma or GED equivalent. The applicant must also meet standards of conduct, and the employing Georgia local unit of administration requests license issuance.
Can GACE 349 be taken through online proctoring?
Yes. Pearson currently lists both internet-based test-center delivery and online proctoring for assessment 349, by appointment year round. Candidates must satisfy the technical, room, identification, and scheduling rules for the delivery method they select.
