The direct answer is: Pakistan Air Force has not published a stable public Aeronautical Engineering initial-test blueprint in the official sources we could verify. That means an exact question count, section timing, subject weighting, pass score, fee, retry rule, and universal selection sequence should not be presented as official facts. The current induction notice and the instructions issued to you—not a coaching chart—control your application.
You can still prepare productively. First verify the active route and its current requirements. Then use broad skills practice to find weaknesses, improve accuracy, and become comfortable working under different pacing conditions. This approach is less flashy than a page promising an “exact pattern,” but it remains useful even when an intake changes.
What the official sources establish—and what they do not
Start at the official Join PAF portal. That is where a current applicant should verify whether an Aeronautical Engineering induction is active, the precise branch or course name, its registration window, and the rules attached to that intake. The broader Pakistan Air Force website is also an official PAF domain, but neither public site supplied a durable, detailed initial-test specification during our August 3 review.
“Not publicly published” does not mean PAF never gives candidates instructions. An active advertisement, registration workflow, roll-number slip, message, or selection-centre instruction may provide facts for a particular intake or appointment. It means those candidate- or cycle-specific details cannot responsibly be converted into a permanent web blueprint without a current public source.
The NUST College of Aeronautical Engineering overview confirms that CAE is an engineering education institution and says it has educated PAF cadets. Its current academic programmes page lists undergraduate programmes in Aerospace Engineering and Avionics Engineering, as well as postgraduate programmes. Those are useful facts about CAE's educational role. They do not establish how PAF screens a current applicant.

This distinction is the article's central rule: a university page can confirm education, while only the recruiting authority can define recruitment. NUST CAE's academic information cannot fill gaps in a PAF initial-test blueprint. Similarly, information about a later ISSB assessment cannot be moved backward and labeled as the initial test.
Why search results give confident but conflicting numbers
The current search results are full of precise tables. One preparation page describes roughly 225 questions for CAE. Another exact-intent article uses a different collection of section counts and times. Candidate-created PDFs and videos publish still other splits, and some pages advertise “guaranteed” or “repeated” questions. The disagreement is a warning: precision has been copied more quickly than authority.
Three checks expose most unreliable claims.
- Find the primary-source link. A table that cites only another prep page, a screenshot, or “candidate experience” is not an official PAF specification.
- Match the route and intake. A figure for Airmen, GD Pilot, another commissioned branch, an older CAE intake, or a different country's air force does not automatically apply here.
- Check what the source actually says. A link to NUST CAE may support a claim about programmes or history while providing no support at all for a test count or cutoff.
Candidate memories can be sincere and still vary by centre, intake, interface, or recollection. Coaching targets can be useful for motivating practice and still not be official passing marks. A page does not become authoritative because it says “latest,” includes 2026 in its title, or ranks highly in search.
Be especially careful with claims that change a decision: an application deadline, eligible qualification, age reference date, minimum marks, medical criterion, payment request, permitted item, negative-marking rule, or cutoff. Verify each one in the current official material before acting.
How to verify an active induction notice
Do this before buying a book, uploading documents, or building a countdown plan.
Confirm the source and route identity
Type joinpaf.gov.pk yourself or follow a known official PAF link. Check the domain before entering identity or academic information. Record the exact name of the branch, course, and induction displayed. “Aeronautical Engineering,” “Engineering Branch,” “CAE,” and similarly worded labels on unofficial sites are not automatically interchangeable.
If no matching route appears in the current official notice, do not let an old advertisement or a search snippet persuade you that applications are open. Save the official notice or confirmation available to you so you can refer to its wording later.
Build an intake-specific requirement sheet
Create a blank table with these rows: application dates, eligibility reference date, accepted education and subjects, marks or grade language, equivalence rules, citizenship or domicile, gender and marital-status rules if stated, physical or medical conditions, required documents, and reporting instructions. Fill a row only from the active official notice or your official candidate communication.
A blank is safer than a guessed value. If a requirement is unclear, use the official contact path or selection-centre guidance. Do not complete the table by averaging two coaching sites.
Treat the latest dated instruction as controlling
A current corrigendum, portal update, or candidate instruction should take precedence over an older advertisement when it explicitly changes the same issue. Keep both documents and note which one is newer. An undated private summary never outranks a dated official instruction.
The same rule applies on test day. Follow the identity, arrival, document, device, and conduct instructions issued for your appointment. If the interface or invigilator gives a rule about navigation, timing, or answering, use that live instruction instead of a remembered practice-site rule.
A practice plan that does not pretend to know the blueprint
An unpublished blueprint does not make all preparation equal. It changes what your scores mean. Practice should diagnose transferable skills, not predict your official result.
Pass one: establish untimed accuracy
Use short sets in reasoning, English, mathematics, and physics as editorial skills review. These areas are commonly useful for technical-entry preparation, but their inclusion here is not a claim that PAF officially tests each one or gives it a particular weight.
For every missed item, record the cause rather than only the answer: missing concept, algebra error, unit error, vocabulary gap, misread qualifier, pattern assumption, or rushed calculation. Rework the problem without looking at the answer. If you cannot explain why each distractor fails, the concept is not yet secure.
Pass two: add varied pacing
Do not train exclusively against an unofficial minute table. Run the same size of mixed set at a comfortable pace, then at a tighter pace, and compare accuracy. This reveals your speed-accuracy tradeoff without claiming either pace matches a PAF section.
Practise decisive skipping as well as solving. If current test instructions permit navigation or review, your method should follow them; if they do not, adapt at the centre. The transferable skill is recognizing when a question is consuming time without progress.
Pass three: use mixed diagnostics
Once individual concepts are stable, mix categories so that you must identify the method before solving. A high overall score can hide a weak area, so keep category accuracy and error causes in your log. Revisit the weakest skill with targeted sets, then return to mixed work.
How to use “past papers” without being misled
Treat any unauthenticated PAF CAE past paper as a collection of practice prompts, not evidence of a current blueprint. Remove its claimed count, time, frequency, and pass mark from your study decision. Then ask four questions about each item:
- Is the underlying concept still educationally sound?
- Can the answer be verified from a reliable textbook or primary reference?
- Does the explanation show the reasoning rather than merely mark an option?
- Would learning the method still help if the live question were completely different?
Reject files that request sensitive information, promise leaked live questions, guarantee selection, or pressure you to pay through an unverifiable channel. Do not upload identity documents or registration slips to a study group. Official registration and any official payment instruction should stay within verified PAF channels.
A remembered question can help identify a concept worth reviewing. It cannot prove that the question will recur, that a named topic has an official weight, or that everyone received the same form.
Keep the stages and institutions separate
Search pages often combine the initial screen, physical or medical checks, interviews, ISSB, education at CAE, and commissioning into one universal numbered sequence. That creates another kind of false certainty. The active PAF notice controls which stages apply, their order, and who advances for the intake you are considering.
NUST CAE is not the recruiting authority. Its pages are the right source for its institutional history and programmes. They are not the right source for an initial-test cutoff, recruitment medical standard, or reporting sequence. ISSB is also a distinct later assessment when the current PAF process requires it; advice for ISSB psychology, group tasks, or interviews should not be described as initial-test content.
Keep three folders—PAF recruitment, initial skills practice, and CAE academic context—so evidence does not migrate between them. Put every document in the folder matching the authority and purpose printed on it.
Your source hierarchy on August 3, 2026
Use evidence in this order:
- the current official induction notice and workflow on Join PAF;
- your current PAF-issued registration confirmation, slip, message, and selection-centre instructions;
- an explicit update on the official PAF website;
- NUST CAE pages for CAE academic and institutional facts only; and
- coaching sites, videos, forums, recalled questions, and practice banks only for clearly labeled independent study ideas.
Recheck the official portal near every decision point. A date in this article records when the public-source review happened; it does not freeze the next induction. If PAF later publishes a current blueprint or notice with exact figures, that newer official material should replace the “not published” entries here.
Final readiness checklist
Before relying on any PAF Aeronautical Engineering claim, you should be able to answer yes to each relevant question:
- Did I verify the route on an official PAF domain?
- Does the rule belong to my exact intake rather than another branch or year?
- Did I read the primary notice instead of a cropped or forwarded image?
- Have I kept NUST academic facts separate from PAF recruitment rules?
