What the Odoo 19 Functional Certification Is

The Odoo Functional Certification is the official credential issued by Odoo S.A. through odoo.com/certifications. It certifies that you can configure and operate Odoo's business applications as a functional consultant or power user — it does not test programming. The exam is deliberately hands-on: you sit it inside a live, pre-loaded Odoo 19 database that Odoo provisions for you, and many questions can only be answered by actually performing a configuration, running a workflow, or reading the resulting report inside that database. Memorizing screenshots is not enough; you must know where each setting lives and what effect it produces.

The word functional is the key to the whole exam. A technical (developer) exam would ask you to write Python, extend models, or build QWeb templates. This certification instead assumes the standard Odoo apps as delivered and tests whether you can make them do real business work: set up a chart of accounts, configure a warehouse route, build a bill of materials, publish an eCommerce product, or read a pivot report. Every answer should be reachable through the standard user interface — if a task would require code, it is out of scope.

Format at a glance

The exam is a timed, single-best-answer multiple-choice test of roughly 120 questions, delivered online against a real Odoo 19 database in the browser. A second tab holding your own trial database (or the certification database itself) is your primary working tool. Learn configuration and reporting together

Every functional area has two halves. The settings switch behavior on — enabling Landed Costs, Multi-Step Routes, Down Payments, or Analytic Accounting. The reports prove the behavior worked — the Aged Receivable, Stock Valuation, or Manufacturing analysis. The exam repeatedly asks you to pick the setting that produces a described report outcome, so never study a configuration without checking its effect in a list or pivot view.

Use Odoo's built-in help and developer mode

Odoo 19 ships contextual tooltips on almost every field; hover to read the official explanation, which is frequently phrased just like an exam option.
