Can You Take the NRCME Exam?

Experience
No specific clinical experience hours required, but candidates must complete an FMCSA-accepted NRCME training course before scheduling the exam
Additional Requirements
  • Must register on the National Registry website and obtain a National Registry number before exam scheduling
  • Must pass the certification test administered by an FMCSA-approved testing organization
  • Certification must be renewed every 10 years by retaking and passing the certification test
  • 12 hours of FMCSA-accepted continuing education every 5 years to maintain active status
  • Random audits of completed driver examinations may occur as part of registry oversight
