Laws and standards questions on the NOCE are not filler. They test whether a dispensing optician can separate official requirements from shop habits, hearsay, and outdated study sheets. The same habit protects patients in practice. A frame adjustment error can be corrected at the dispensing table, but a compliance error can affect a patient's rights, workplace safety, prescription access, and business records.

The first source-control rule is to identify the exam correctly. The NOCE is the ABO Basic spectacle examination. The CLRE is the separate NCLE Basic contact lens examination. Both are administered through ABO-NCLE, but the content is not interchangeable. The official source hierarchy
