Parents can help here in advance: tell your child before exam day that the paper is supposed to contain questions they cannot fully answer, so meeting one is expected, not alarming.

The Final Five Minutes

If the sitting allows you to review, the last five minutes have a fixed job list, in this order:

  1. Answer every blank. With no penalty for wrong answers, an unanswered question is a thrown-away ticket. Scan for any skipped item and fill it — even a pure guess.
  2. Review flagged questions. Spend the remaining time where you already know the uncertainty lives.
