1.1 WLCOR 350-101 Exam Structure, Blueprint & Certification Strategy

WLCOR 350-101, Implementing and Operating Cisco Wireless Core Technologies, is Cisco’s professional-level wireless core examination. It replaced the former path in which wireless candidates used the broad enterprise core and older ENWLSD/ENWLSI concentration exams. The dedicated wireless track took effect in March 2026, so older exam numbers are useful historical context but are not valid choices for a new CCNP Wireless candidate.

Cisco does not publish a fixed number of questions or a numeric passing score for WLCOR. A test form can change as items are maintained, and Cisco uses its own scoring process. Therefore, statements such as “exactly 100 questions,” “825 out of 1000,” or a guaranteed number of seconds per item are not defensible planning facts. The official WLCOR training description characterizes the assessment as multiple choice, but candidates should check the current appointment confirmation and Cisco/Pearson VUE policies for the delivery method and rules that apply to their sitting. Do not base a study plan on assumed backtracking, simulation, or online-proctoring behavior.

What passing WLCOR accomplishes

Passing 350-101 immediately earns Cisco Certified Specialist – Wireless Core. It also supplies the core-exam requirement for CCNP Wireless. To earn the professional certification, a candidate must pass WLCOR and one current concentration:

• 300-120 WLSI: Implementing Cisco Wireless Networks

The same WLCOR pass is the qualifying written exam for the CCIE Wireless practical examination. Passing the core does not by itself award CCNP Wireless or CCIE Wireless.

Cisco certifications remain active for three years. Recertification details are level-specific and may change. On Cisco’s current recertification page, the Continuing Education path requires 40 credits for a Specialist certification and 80 credits for a Professional certification. Other exam and mixed exam/credit paths are also available, so verify the current matrix before selecting a renewal plan.

The weights are not a license to skip small domains. Cisco may sample any listed objective, and many scenarios span domains—for example, a roaming failure may combine RF overlap, client behavior, security keying, mobility, and Assurance evidence.

A defensible study and exam strategy

Start with the blueprint, not a memorized question dump. For each numbered objective, be able to explain the mechanism, identify the relevant Catalyst 9800 construct or command family, read representative output, and choose a safe operational action. Build a small lab where practical, but distinguish a product default from a design recommendation and distinguish current Catalyst 9800 behavior from legacy AireOS behavior.

During the exam, use the 120-minute limit as a global budget. Read qualifiers such as “best,” “first,” “most likely,” and “without disrupting.” Eliminate answers that contradict protocol roles or Cisco’s configuration model. Because Cisco does not promise a particular item count or navigation policy on the public WLCOR page, adapt pacing to the form and instructions displayed in the testing application rather than an invented per-question timer.

Before booking, confirm the current exam page, blueprint version, language, price, identification rules, and delivery options. Before pursuing CCNP Wireless, confirm the active concentration list. Before recertifying, confirm the current certification-level requirements. Those checks prevent an otherwise strong technical plan from relying on retired exams or stale administrative rules.
