IC&RC minimum standard: high school diploma or jurisdictional equivalent plus 300 hours of education specific to the ADC domains, including 6 hours in counselor ethics and responsibilities
Experience
IC&RC minimum standard: 6,000 supervised ADC-domain hours with high school/equivalent, 5,000 with a related associate degree, 4,000 with a related bachelor's degree, or 2,000 with a related master's degree or higher
Additional Requirements
  • Application through the candidate's IC&RC Administering Board
  • Passing the IC&RC ADC examination
  • Counselor-specific Code of Ethics statement or affirmation
  • Living or working at least 51% of the time in the Member Board's jurisdiction at application and testing
