Choose the delivery path with less friction

AWS lists two delivery options for AIF-C01: Pearson VUE testing center and online proctored exam. The credential is the same either way. The practical question is which environment gives you fewer avoidable problems. Test-day logistics do not prove AI knowledge, but they can consume attention that should be used for reading scenarios and applying AWS judgment.

Online proctoring can be convenient if you have a quiet private room, stable internet, a compliant computer, a working camera and microphone, and comfort with remote check-in. It can be risky if your home is noisy, your network drops, your workspace is hard to clear, or your device has restrictions that interfere with proctoring software. A testing center can reduce those home variables, but it adds travel time, parking, building access, arrival timing, and center rules.

Online proctored checklist

• Confirm the appointment time, time zone, and check-in window.
• Review current Pearson VUE and AWS Certification identification requirements before test day.
• Test the computer, camera, microphone, browser or testing software, power, and network.
• Choose a private room with a door, clear desk, and no interruptions.
• Remove notes, extra screens, smart devices, and unrelated materials according to the test rules.
• Keep required ID ready and make sure the name matches the appointment requirements.
• Prepare for check-in to take time, and do not schedule another commitment immediately after the exam.

Test center checklist

• Confirm the address, appointment time, parking or transit route, and expected arrival time.
• Bring required identification that matches the registration details.
• Plan to arrive early enough to handle traffic, building access, and check-in.
• Know that personal items may be restricted or stored according to center policy.
• Bring only what the rules allow and avoid creating a problem at check-in.
• Eat, hydrate, and use the restroom before the exam window begins.
• Keep the confirmation details available in case the center needs them.

Mental setup before the first item

Before the exam begins, remind yourself of the official format facts. The exam is 90 minutes and has 65 questions. Some questions are scored and some are unscored, but you will not know which are which. Unanswered questions count as incorrect, and there is no penalty for guessing. Your job is to answer every item, manage time, and use final review deliberately.

A useful opening routine is short. Read the instructions, notice item-type rules, and start. Do not spend several minutes trying to predict topic order. The exam can include multiple choice, multiple response, ordering, matching, and scenario-style questions. When a question asks for more than one response or a sequence, slow down enough to avoid an avoidable format mistake.

The test-day decision checklist

Use the same practitioner lens during the exam that you used during study. Ask whether the business problem is actually an AI problem. Ask which data type or model pattern is involved. Ask whether the scenario needs a managed AI service, Amazon Bedrock, RAG, an agent, Guardrails, Amazon Q, SageMaker AI, or a non-AI workflow. Ask what security, responsible AI, cost, or governance condition changes the answer.

When stuck, eliminate answers that are outside candidate scope or ignore the scenario. If the problem asks for a non-builder to approve a solution, an answer that starts with developing a custom algorithm may be suspect. If the problem mentions sensitive data, an answer that ignores IAM, privacy, encryption, logging, or review may be weak. If the problem needs current private facts, an answer that relies only on a model's general knowledge may be incomplete.

Avoid test-day myths

Do not rely on pass-rate claims, salary claims, live-exam lists, or stories about which answer letter is most common. AWS does not publish an official pass-rate percentage in the source brief's opened sources, and this guide does not claim to know live exam content. Treat every item as original work. Your advantage is domain understanding, official-source preparation, and a calm timing workflow.

If something goes wrong, follow the delivery provider's instructions. Do not argue about exam content with the proctor. For online exams, keep communication clear and comply with environment checks. For testing centers, follow staff directions. After the exam, do not try to reconstruct or share exam content. Use the official result process and your domain feedback for future study planning if needed.

The final test-day goal is simple: remove preventable friction. A clean workspace or early arrival will not answer a Bedrock question for you, but it keeps your attention available for the questions. That is enough reason to treat logistics as part of readiness.
