About the SA Installation Rules Paper 2 Exam
Installation Rules Paper 2 is the second of two national theoretical examinations required for the South African wireman's licence (installation electrician). Based on SANS 10142-1, it tests the practical application of verification and certification procedures — inspection, insulation resistance, earth continuity, loop impedance, prospective short-circuit current, voltage drop and touch voltage calculations, fault-finding and CoC issuance for commercial and industrial low-voltage installations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Electrical Installation Regulations.
Exam sponsor: Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) administers the Installation Rules examinations; registration as an installation electrician is with the Department of Employment and Labour after meeting all requirements including EWSETA unit standards.. Assessment
A 3-hour written national examination of 100 marks administered by DHET through TVET colleges.
