1A bakery uses 12 cups of flour to make 8 loaves of bread. What is the unit rate of cups of flour per loaf?
A.1.5 cups per loaf
B.2 cups per loaf
C.0.75 cups per loaf
D.1 cup per loaf
Explanation: Divide the cups of flour by the number of loaves: 12 / 8 = 1.5. The unit rate is 1.5 cups of flour per loaf.
2What is 25% of 80?
A.20
B.40
C.15
D.25
Explanation: Convert 25% to 0.25 and multiply: 0.25 x 80 = 20. So 25% of 80 is 20.
3Compute 3/4 / 1/8.
A.6
B.3/32
C.3/2
D.8/3
Explanation: To divide by a fraction, multiply by its reciprocal: 3/4 x 8/1 = 24/4 = 6.
4Compute 4.56 + 2.8.
A.7.36
B.6.36
C.7.46
D.5.36
Explanation: Align the decimal points and add: 4.56 + 2.80 = 7.36. Writing 2.8 as 2.80 keeps the columns aligned.
5Find the greatest common factor (GCF) of 12 and 18.
A.6
B.3
C.2
D.36
Explanation: The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 and the factors of 18 are 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18. The largest shared factor is 6.
6Find the least common multiple (LCM) of 4 and 6.
A.12
B.24
C.2
D.10
Explanation: Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, ... and multiples of 6: 6, 12, 18, ... The smallest value in both lists is 12.
7Evaluate 3x + 5 when x = 4.
A.17
B.12
C.20
D.9
Explanation: Substitute x = 4: 3(4) + 5 = 12 + 5 = 17.
8Which expression represents "5 less than twice a number n"?
A.2n - 5
B.5 - 2n
C.2(n - 5)
D.5n - 2
Explanation: "Twice a number n" is 2n, and "5 less than" that means subtract 5 from it: 2n - 5.
9Which expression is equivalent to 3(x + 4)?
A.3x + 12
B.3x + 4
C.x + 12
D.7x
Explanation: Apply the distributive property: 3(x + 4) = 3(x) + 3(4) = 3x + 12.
10Solve x + 7 = 15.
A.8
B.22
C.15
D.105
Explanation: Subtract 7 from both sides: x = 15 - 7 = 8.

About the OSAS Math Grade 6 Exam

The OSAS Grade 6 Mathematics assessment measures student proficiency against the 2021 Oregon Mathematics Standards. It is reported in three categories — Concepts and Procedures, Problem Solving and Modeling/Data Analysis, and Communicating Reasoning — through a Smarter Balanced computer-adaptive test and a Performance Task.

Assessment

Online Smarter Balanced assessment with two components: a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) of selected-response, technology-enhanced and equation-entry items, and a Performance Task (PT) of multi-step problem-solving items. Reporting categories are Concepts and Procedures (Claim 1: 10 of the 17 operational CAT items), Problem Solving and Modeling/Data Analysis (Claims 2 and 4 combined: 3 CAT items plus most of the 4-6 Performance Task items), and Communicating Reasoning (Claim 3: 4 CAT items plus 0-2 Performance Task items). Aligned to the 2021 Oregon Mathematics Standards.

Time Limit

Untimed; most students complete the CAT and Performance Task in under two hours

Passing Score

No pass/fail mark. Results are reported on four achievement levels (Levels 1-4); Levels 3 and 4 are considered proficient.

Exam Fee

No fee to students (Oregon Department of Education (ODE); Mathematics assessment delivered as part of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium)

OSAS Math Grade 6 Exam Content Outline
