About the Rwanda Driving Theory Test Exam
The Rwanda provisional driving licence theory test (uruhushya rw'agateganyo rwo gutwara ibinyabiziga) is the official written assessment you must pass before a provisional driving licence can be issued. It is set by the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Department of Traffic and Road Safety and booked through the Irembo platform, and it tests knowledge of the Rwandan road code — Presidential Order N° 85/01 of 02/09/2002 regulating general traffic police and road traffic as amended, now sitting under Law N° 014/2026 of 06/03/2026 governing road traffic — covering road signs, right-of-way rules, speed limits (40 km/h in built-up areas, 80 km/h on open highways), defensive driving, vehicle equipment, and traffic offences. RNP offer the official test in Kinyarwanda, English or French and publish no topic weighting for it; this 100-question bank is an English-language MCQ study adaptation whose section split is our own study structure, not an official blueprint.
