1Choose the word most nearly similar in meaning to 'abundant':
A.Plentiful
B.Scarce
C.Hidden
D.Costly
Explanation: 'Abundant' means existing in large quantities, so 'plentiful' is its closest synonym. CSS MPT English regularly tests synonyms of common words.
2Choose the word most nearly opposite in meaning to 'transparent':
A.Clear
B.Opaque
C.Fragile
D.Smooth
Explanation: 'Transparent' means allowing light through so objects behind are visible; 'opaque' means not allowing light through, the direct antonym.
3Select the correctly spelled word:
A.Concious
B.Conscious
C.Consious
D.Conscius
Explanation: The correct spelling is 'conscious', meaning aware. Spelling questions appear in the English section of the MPT.
4Fill in the blank: 'She has been living here ____ 2015.'
A.since
B.for
C.from
D.during
Explanation: 'Since' is used with a point in time (2015) in the present perfect, while 'for' is used with a duration. So 'since 2015' is correct.
5Choose the grammatically correct sentence:
A.Neither of the boys were present.
B.Neither of the boys was present.
C.Neither of the boys are present.
D.Neither of the boys have present.
Explanation: 'Neither' is singular and takes a singular verb, so 'was' is correct: 'Neither of the boys was present.'
6Choose the correct article: 'He is ____ honest man.'
A.a
B.an
C.the
D.no article
Explanation: Article choice depends on sound, not spelling. 'Honest' begins with a silent 'h' and a vowel sound, so it takes 'an'.
7One-word substitution: a person who knows many languages is called a:
A.Linguist
B.Polyglot
C.Bilingual
D.Orator
Explanation: A 'polyglot' is a person who knows or uses several languages. One-word substitution is a common MPT English item.
8Identify the correct passive form: 'The committee approved the plan.'
A.The plan was approved by the committee.
B.The plan is approved by the committee.
C.The plan has approved by the committee.
D.The plan was approving by the committee.
Explanation: The active sentence is in the simple past, so the passive uses 'was' plus the past participle: 'The plan was approved by the committee.'
9Choose the correct word: 'The medicine had no ____ on the patient.'
A.affect
B.effect
C.effecting
D.affected
Explanation: 'Effect' is the noun meaning a result or influence; here it follows 'no', so the noun is needed. 'Affect' is usually a verb.
10Fill in the blank with the correct preposition: 'He is good ____ mathematics.'
A.in
B.at
C.on
D.with
Explanation: The fixed phrase is 'good at' a skill or subject, so 'good at mathematics' is correct.

1Treat the MPT as a breadth test: 33% qualifies, so secure easy marks across all subjects before chasing hard items in any one area.
2Because there is no negative marking, never leave a blank; make an informed guess on every one of the 200 questions.
3Pace at about one minute per question and flag harder items to return to, so you reach the end of the paper.
4For English, drill high-frequency vocabulary, common prepositions and basic grammar rules, which give quick reliable marks.
5For Pakistan Affairs and Islamic Studies, memorise durable facts such as constitutional dates, founders, provinces, the five pillars and the Seerah rather than volatile current-affairs trivia.
6For General Science & Ability, practise mental arithmetic, percentages, ratios and number series so quantitative questions are fast and accurate.
