About the ALS A&E Elementary Exam
The Philippines Alternative Learning System (ALS) Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Test at the elementary level is a national assessment administered by the Department of Education Bureau of Education Assessment (DepEd BEA). It gives out-of-school children in special cases, out-of-school youth, and adults who were unable to finish formal elementary school the chance to earn an elementary-level certificate that qualifies them for entry into Junior High School under the K to 12 basic education curriculum. Registrants must be enrolled in ALS, listed in the Learner Information System, at least 12 years old on the test day, and must complete the Presentation Portfolio Assessment beforehand. The test itself has two parts: a multiple-choice test across the ALS learning strands and a Composition Writing task. The practice questions on this page are an independent English-language multiple-choice study aid built from the ALS K to 12 learning-strand competencies; they do not reproduce the official DepEd test form and cannot stand in for the Composition Writing task or the portfolio assessment.
