About the HAVO Economie Exam
HAVO Economie is a Dutch upper-secondary economics exam administered under CvTE rules and catalogued on Examenblad.nl. The 2026 Syllabus economie havo (Versie 2, July 2024; no content changes vs 2025) assigns CE domains D (Markt), E (Ruilen over de tijd), F (Samenwerken en onderhandelen), G (Risico en informatie), H (Welvaart en groei) and I (Goede tijden, slechte tijden) together with Domain A skills. The official CE is a 3-hour written paper (open/short answers with calculations and graph interpretation), not an MCQ-only test. This practice bank is an English-language multiple-choice study adaptation covering those CE concepts for revision.
Assessment
Eindexamen = CE + SE. Centraal Examen: one national written sitting (3 hours) covering domains D–I with Domain A skills; open/short-answer items scored via correctievoorschrift; raw points converted to a 1–10 grade with the series N-term omzettingstabel. Schoolexamen: school PTA covers domains B, C, J and K (and optionally CE domains). Official assessment is not pure multiple-choice. From 2026, sources are in the question booklet (no separate bronnenboekje).
Time Limit
CE: 3 hours (Examenblad 2026: 1e tijdvak Monday 11 May 2026 13:30–16:30; 2e tijdvak Wednesday 17 June 2026 13:30–16:30). SE duration and forms follow each school’s PTA.
Passing Score
Dutch grading scale 1–10; a subject is typically passed at ≥5.5. When both apply, the final subject grade is the average of CE and SE. CE points are converted via the published N-term table for that series.
Exam Fee
No separate published per-subject fee for regular secondary-school HAVO candidates (publicly funded). Do not treat DUO Staatsexamen subject fees as the school CE fee; those fees apply only to independent DUO Staatsexamen candidates. (College voor Toetsen en Examens (CvTE); catalogue and documents on Examenblad.nl)

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Netherlands HAVO Economie?
It is the HAVO economics eindexamen subject under CvTE, with documents and rooster on Examenblad.nl. The examenprogramma domains are A (Vaardigheden), B (Schaarste), C (Ruil), D (Markt), E (Ruilen over de tijd), F (Samenwerken en onderhandelen), G (Risico en informatie), H (Welvaart en groei), I (Goede tijden, slechte tijden), J (Onderzoek en experiment) and K (Keuzeonderwerpen). Is the official Centraal Examen multiple-choice?
No. The official CE is a written paper with open and short-answer items (often including calculations and graph/source interpretation) scored with a correctievoorschrift and converted to a grade using the N-term omzettingstabel. This page’s 100 questions are an English-language MCQ study adaptation for concept practice, not an official CE simulation.
How long is the 2026 HAVO Economie CE?
Examenblad lists both 1e tijdvak (11 May 2026) and 2e tijdvak (17 June 2026) as 13:30–16:30, i.e. 3 hours. The syllabus confirms CE duration of 3 hours. Schoolexamen timing is set in each school’s PTA.
What score do I need to pass?
Dutch secondary grades use a 1–10 scale; a subject is typically passed at 5.5 or higher. When both CE and SE apply, the final subject grade is normally their average. CE raw scores are converted via the series N-term table published on Examenblad.
How much does HAVO Economie cost for school candidates?
Regular secondary-school HAVO candidates do not pay a separate published per-subject CE fee; schooling is publicly funded. DUO Staatsexamen subject fees apply only to independent Staatsexamen candidates and should not be cited as the school exam fee.
Which syllabus should I use for 2026?
Use the Syllabus economie havo 2026 (CvTE) and the examenprogramma economie vwo/havo linked from the Examenblad subject page. Vakspecifieke informatie states there are no content changes in the 2026 syllabus versus 2025. From 2026, sources appear in the question booklet rather than a separate bronnenboekje.
