About the HAVO BSM Exam
Bewegen, sport en maatschappij (BSM) is a Dutch HAVO elective exam subject catalogued by CvTE on Examenblad.nl. For 2026, Examenblad states the exam is taken only as schoolexamen (SE-only). The examenprogramma comprises Domains A–E: skills in arranging/guiding movement; practical Bewegen areas (games, gymnastics, dance, athletics, self-defence, choice activities); regulating roles (mover, coach/instructor/referee/jury, organiser); health, fitness testing and injury care; and sport in society (career orientation, bewegingscultuur, sport organisation). Official SE mixes practical performance with knowledge and organisation tasks. This practice bank is an English-language multiple-choice study adaptation of sport-science, health and society knowledge aligned to Domains C–E (and related A/B concepts). It is not a practical PE substitute and cannot certify movement skills.
Assessment
Eindexamen = Schoolexamen only (no Centraal Examen). Examenprogramma domains: A Vaardigheden, B Bewegen, C Bewegen en regelen, D Bewegen en gezondheid, E Bewegen en samenleving. SE covers A–E; A, C, D and E are in principle assessed in connection with B. Each school’s PTA sets task forms (practical moving, regulating/organising roles, written/oral theory). Official assessment is not a national MCQ paper.
Time Limit
Set by each school’s PTA; no national CE time slot on the Examenblad rooster for BSM.
Passing Score
Dutch grading scale 1–10 (Eindexamenbesluit VO: SE cijfer on a scale from 1 through 10). A subject is typically passed at ≥5.5 as eindcijfer under general HAVO rules; for SE-only BSM the school SE grade is the subject grade.
Exam Fee
No separate published per-subject fee for regular secondary-school HAVO candidates (publicly funded). Do not treat DUO Staatsexamen subject fees as the school SE fee; those fees apply only to independent DUO Staatsexamen candidates. (College voor Toetsen en Examens (CvTE); catalogue and examenprogramma on Examenblad.nl; SE delivery by the school under its PTA)
