About the MATSEC SEC Information Technology Exam
Malta Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) Information Technology — SEC 39 (2026) is administered by the MATSEC Examinations Board (University of Malta). Assessment follows the official SEC 39 2026 syllabus scheme: Vocational SEC model under the SEC 2019 Vocational Subjects Policy Document, which the Year 11 cohort sitting in 2026 follows: three Units, one for each of Years 9, 10 and 11. Each Unit is assessed by three assessment tasks — two coursework assignments (26-34% of the unit each) and one MATSEC-set controlled assessment (38-42%) that includes a written component. Criteria are graded as Knowledge, Comprehension and Application at MQF Levels 1, 2 and 3. Vocational assessments are not tiered; overall SEC Levels 1-3 are reported.
