You must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid Maryland driver's license for at least 5 years, have no more than 3 points on your driving record, pass a criminal background check, complete a physical examination, obtain an Apprentice Instructor Permit, complete supervised training under a licensed instructor with 2+ years experience, and pass the MVA's 50-question written exam with an 80% score.
