Administered in technical English in alignment with ICAO Annex 1 and Part-FCL standards, the examination covers air law, navigation, meteorology, systems, performance, human performance, and radiotelephony. This free practice bank provides 100 independent English-language practice questions with comprehensive explanations.
Exam sponsor: Civil Aviation Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (CAO.IRI). The requirements and fees below concern the certification or admission exam, separate from our free practice resources.
Assessment
Written multiple-choice theoretical examinations administered by the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran across the nine private pilot subjects listed at FCL.215 of the CAO.IRI Air Crew Regulation: Air Law, Human Performance, Meteorology and Communications as common subjects, plus Principles of Flight, Operational Procedures, Flight Performance and Planning, Aircraft General Knowledge and Navigation. Each paper must be passed at 70%, and the set must be completed within 18 months of the first attempt.
Time Limit
Timed per subject paper per CAO.IRI examination timetables.
Passing Score
70% on each subject paper under CAO.IRI Air Crew Regulation point FCL.025(b)(1), with a penalty of 1% of the marks for every 4 wrong answers. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the passing score for the Iran CAO PPL theory examination?
Candidates must achieve at least 70% on each subject paper. The CAO.IRI Air Crew Regulation deviates from the European Part-FCL baseline here: point FCL.025(b)(1) sets 70% rather than 75%, and it deducts 1% of the marks for every 4 incorrect answers, so guessing is not free. Confirm the current figure against the revision of the regulation in force when you sit the exam.
In what language is the CAO Iran PPL ground examination conducted?
The theoretical knowledge examination is administered in English, which serves as the international technical standard for aviation licensing in accordance with ICAO guidelines.
What subjects are covered in the CAO.IRI PPL theoretical syllabus?
The examination encompasses nine subjects: Air Law and ATC Procedures, Aircraft General Knowledge, Flight Performance and Planning, Human Performance, Meteorology, Navigation, Operational Procedures, Principles of Flight, and Communications.
What are the privileges of a CAO Iran Private Pilot License?
A PPL holder may act as pilot-in-command or co-pilot of non-commercial civil flights under Visual Flight Rules without financial remuneration or valuable consideration.
Is this practice question bank an official CAO.IRI examination?
No. This practice bank is an independent educational study resource developed by OpenExamPrep to assist pilot candidates in preparing for the topics examined under the CAO.IRI PPL syllabus.
