The Concurso General Docente is the competitive merit process the Secretaría de Educación de Honduras (SEDUC) uses to select teachers for public pre-basic, basic and secondary schools. It is governed by the Estatuto del Docente Hondureño (Decreto 136-97), the Ley Fundamental de Educación (Decreto 262-2011) and the Reglamento de la Carrera Docente (Acuerdo 1360-SE-2014), and it opens with a written multiple-choice test of aptitudes and basic competencies that must be passed at 75%. The SEDUC temario for the concurso sets out four blocks: cultura general, informática (including SACE), the laws and regulations governing national education, and the candidate's own área de especialidad. The written paper is produced under confidentiality by a Terna de Especialistas contracted by the Subsecretaría de Asuntos Administrativos y Financieros (Articles 46 to 48) and administered by the Juntas de Selección, with accredited veedores sociales observing (Articles 28 to 30). Candidates scoring at least 75% enter the preliminary list; antecedents and the interview are then weighted with the written score to produce the final ranked list. Posts in Orientación Docente, Dirección Docente and Técnico Pedagógica additionally require a psychometric test passed at 75% or above. Article 34 sets 20 to 30 November as the statutory window for the concurso, although recent competitions have run outside it.

1Work through the SEDUC 'Listas de contenidos temáticos' first. It names the four blocks the paper is built from — Cultura General, Informática, Leyes y reglamentos, and Área de especialidad — so you can see which parts of your preparation are common to every candidate and which depend on your own subject.
2Master the key articles of the Estatuto del Docente Hondureño (Decreto 136-97): entry requirements (Article 7), reciprocity for foreign teachers (Article 8), obligations (Article 9), prohibitions (Article 12), the five classified functions (Article 16), tenure after six months (Article 20), the three-tier sanction regime (Articles 35 to 38), and the 90-day prescription rule (Article 41).
