About the HKDSE Visual Arts Exam
HKDSE Visual Arts is the Hong Kong senior secondary elective in art and design, assessed half by a public examination and half by a School-based Assessment portfolio. In the public examination candidates choose Paper 1 (Visual Presentation of a Theme) or Paper 2 (Design); each paper has Part A, a written art/design appreciation and criticism (20 marks, 45 minutes), and Part B, practical making (80 marks, 3 hours 15 minutes). The SBA (50%) comprises a research workbook (20%) and artwork/critical studies (30%).
