About the Guinea CEE Exam
The Certificat d'Études Élémentaires (CEE), also known as the Examen d'Entrée en 7ème Année, is the official national primary school leaving qualification in the Republic of Guinea. Administered annually by the Direction Générale des Examens et Contrôle Scolaire (DGECS) under the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, Technical Education and Vocational Training (which absorbed the former MEPU-A in January 2026), the CEE sanctions the successful completion of the six-year elementary education cycle. Achieving a passing mark on the CEE is the mandatory statutory requirement for admission into junior secondary education (le collège, commencing in 7ème année). The examination tests fundamental cognitive competencies across mathematics, French language arts, observation sciences, national history, geography, and moral/civic education. Format and language note: the official examination is written in French and assessed through open-response calculations, dictations, short-answer questions, and essay compositions, not by multiple-choice questions. Éducation Civique et Morale (ECM)
The national motto, flag and anthem, the coat of arms, respect for the flag ceremony, civic duties and taxes, the rights of the child, the mayor and the commune, the separation of powers, road safety, protection of public property, tolerance and the voting age.
