The Bangladesh Navy Officer Cadet Written Exam is the academic screening test for officer candidates. It is conducted at selection centres (such as BNS Haji Mohshin in Dhaka, or other regional bases). Candidates must clear the written exam after passing preliminary medical and viva. The written test typically includes an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) test (60 marks) covering verbal and non-verbal reasoning, and a combined English and General Knowledge test (60 marks) covering grammar, vocabulary, translation, current affairs, Bangladesh history, and navy-specific details. Shortlisted candidates are sent to the Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) for four days of psychological, leadership, and physical tests.
