About the NRFSP Food Safety Manager Exam

The NRFSP Food Safety Manager Certification Examination is accredited by ANAB under Conference for Food Protection standards. Its current blueprint is headed effective December 22, 2025 and organizes 80 domain items across nine duties. FDA released the 2026 Food Code as its latest complete model edition. The NRFSP handbook says current FDA Food Code content is an exam reference. Local jurisdictions adopt different editions and amendments, so national certification and the law governing a workplace must be checked separately.

Exam sponsor: National Registry of Food Safety Professionals (NRFSP). The requirements and fees below concern the certification or admission exam, separate from our free practice resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the NRFSP Food Safety Manager vocabulary game free?

Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.

How does the NRFSP Food Safety Manager vocabulary game work?

Each round shows a clue for one of 20 NRFSP Food Safety Manager terms. Guess the term in six tries: green means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the term but in another spot, and gray means it is not in the term. After the round, read the explanation and play the next term.

Where do the NRFSP Food Safety Manager terms come from?

OpenExamPrep researched each term from the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals (NRFSP) content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.

What is the NRFSP Food Safety Manager passing score?

Passing requires a scaled score of 75 or higher. It is not 75% or a fixed raw correct-answer count; NRFSP scales each form for difficulty. The January 1, 2026 FSMCE handbook specifies 85 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours; the published blueprint allocates 80 domain items. The manager overview still says 80 questions. Use the current handbook for the total and confirm your booked exam instructions; do not infer an exact unscored-item count from the difference.

How is NRFSP different from ServSafe?

NRFSP identifies its Food Safety Manager Certification Examination as the CFP-standard program. Its current handbook specifies 85 total questions and a scaled passing score of 75. Choose the credential and delivery channel that satisfy your jurisdiction and check the other provider’s current handbook before comparing counts or scoring rules.
