About the QLD Motorcycle Knowledge Test Exam

The Queensland class RE or R motorcycle knowledge test is the written multiple-choice test required to obtain an RE learner motorcycle licence. Administered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), it consists of 30 questions drawn from Your Keys to Driving in Queensland and the Motorcycle Riders' Guide. Topics include Queensland road rules, road signs, give-way rules, risk management, hazard perception, motorcycle-specific regulations (including the LAM scheme, lane filtering, and learner restrictions), and protective gear. You must answer at least 27 of 30 questions correctly (90%) to pass. The test is available online (for current Queensland licence holders who have held a car or heavy vehicle licence for at least 1 year in the past 5 years and completed the Q-Ride pre-learner course) or in person at a TMR customer service centre, and can only be attempted once per day.
