Louisiana Producer Licensing Requirements

Louisiana has specific requirements for obtaining Life and Health insurance licenses.

Pre-License Education Requirements

No Pre-License Education Required (Since June 2022)

Louisiana does NOT require pre-license education as of June 3, 2022:

What to Bring:

• Two forms of valid, government-issued ID
• One must contain your name AND photograph
• Second must be signature-bearing
• Acceptable: Driver's license, passport, military ID

Testing Rules:

• Report 30 minutes before scheduled time
• No cell phones or electronic devices
• No personal items at testing station
• Results provided immediately after completion
• If you arrive late, you forfeit your exam fee

4. Pay license fee - $75 per line of authority + transaction fee
5. Await approval - Background check review

Qualifications

To obtain a Louisiana insurance license, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be a resident of Louisiana (for resident license)
• Pass the licensing examination with 70% or higher
• Complete fingerprinting and background check
• Submit completed application through NIPR
• Pay applicable fees
• Have no disqualifying criminal history
